A dancer or actor must have a strong personality in order to perform a good solo. A performance at De Fuut means there’s is no background apart from the ever changing view of the sea, sky and dunes.

The fifth edition of this 'Solo’s at the Sea', initiated by artistic leaders Thom Stuart and Rinus Sprong, was held in 2008 for the first time and was an instant success. Stuart and Sprong have now made a selection of the best solos from the past five years alternating with new performances.

During a three-course meal the audience will enjoy a diverse programme. Thanks to the relaxed atmosphere at beach pavilion De Fuut, it will be a very ‘light’ performance. A bit of Dutch

About De Dutch Don't Dance Division

The Hague-based dance company De Dutch Don’t Dance Division (DeDDDD) was founded by Rinus Sprong and Thom Stuart and has created and produced many multidisciplinary dance performances at different locations. They created ‘Orlando’, ‘Coriolanus’, ‘The Nutcracker’ in the Grote Kerk and ‘Abdallah and the Gazelle of Basra’. Thom Stuart is currently taking part in the second edition of ‘The Ultimate Dance Battle’, the spectacular dance reality programme on RTL 5.

The annual Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta will take place from 15 to 28 May in and around Scheveningen Harbour.

The Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta is The Hague’s annual sailing festival. Each year during Whitsun weekend (25 to 28 May), Scheveningen is transformed into the epicentre of Dutch competitive sailing. There will be all kinds of boats, with a total of around 1,500 boats heading for the coast of The Hague.
 

The boating events

On Tuesday, 15 May the start gun fires for the 110-mile Vuurschepenrace from Scheveningen to Harwich, on the coast of England. Dozens of yachts will be battling the elements on the open sea. The traditional Vuurschepenrace is the first race of the Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta.

After a lay day in Harwich, the North Sea Race organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club will take sailors back from Harwich to Scheveningen on Friday, 18 May.

There are also four days of offshore races in the North Sea by the Scheveningen coast from 25 to 28 May. A group of around 500 open boats, catamarans, Olympic and one-design classes, sharp yachts and classic boats will be racing around the buoys.
Special for spectators

If you'd like to stake out a super spot to watch the races, why not get up and close on a powerboat from RIB Actie? Back on shore you can browse around the Nautical Market in Scheveningen with everything from herring snacks to jenever tastings.
 

Food and entertainment

In addition to the tough competition in exciting regattas, the regatta village at the Scheveningen marina offers a meeting place with daily prize giving, children’s activities, happy hours, live music and excellent food.

The Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta traditionally opens with a major act on Friday evening with a popular band giving a private concert to regatta participants.

Visitors to the steaming PopHotSpot Festival at the Grote Markt will enjoy live outdoor pop concerts for three weeks long from 17 May to 3 June.

The Paard van Troje and Grote Markt will organise the biggest open air festival in the Netherlands. The festival will feature Dutch as well as international musicians playing everything from hot jazz and country music to African pop and alternative rock. It is the place to be for excellent live music and a fun and informal atmosphere.

There is no doubt that will be a fabulous edition for the free PopHotSpot Festival. Music lovers, fun seekers and seasoned festival goers will be in their element on the Grote Markt for three weeks long starting on Thursday, 17 May.

The cafes and bars on the Grote Markt are also joining forces with the Paard van Troje music club to organise the PopHotSpot. Live performances are organised all year round at the Grote Markt and in during The Hague Festivals they come together to organise the PopHotSpot Festival. Previous editions attracted around 20,000 visitors.

The Grote Markt is a perfect location for the PopHotSpot Festival because it radiates history and culture and is always bustling. It’s located in the city centre of The Hague and is easily accessible by public transportation.

From 30 May to 3 June Europe’s best beach volleyball players will come to The Hague to battle it out for the European title. The European Beach Volleyball Championships guarantee an exciting combination of sport and entertainment for spectators.

The Hague Beach Stadium will set the stage where teams will have a final chance to qualify for the Olympic Games this summer in London. Not only do the competitions promise to be spectacular but there will be plenty of evening entertainment with parties in the Beach Village at the end of each day.
 

Teams

The European Beach Volleyball Championships in The Hague will host 32 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams. It is an opportunity for them to earn extra points for Olympic qualification. For three-time European champions Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil it’s the chance to capture the European title in front of a home crowd in the Netherlands.
 

Summer Festival 2012

The five-day Summer Festival 2012 will be organised in Scheveningen under the flag of the CEV (the European Volleyball Federation). The festival will focus on professional and recreational sport, expertise and organisation. A one-of-a-kind programme will be provided in cooperation with different Dutch and international partners. Tickets

Each day of the competition will be divided into an afternoon and an evening programme. When the afternoon programme is over, everyone will be asked to exit the stadium so that it can be prepared for the evening programme starting at 18.00. Separate tickets providing admission to each programme can be purchased from the website of the European Beach Volleyball Championships.
